World Cup 06 is finally here
Alright, it is on! Today marked the start of the World Cup 2006 in Germany (my plan to watch the next world cup in person). I am super excited about a month full of football games that I can (more or less) watch live on TV. The challenge is going to be timing. Games are on at 6:00am, 9:00am, and 12:00pm in Seattle time which means during weekdays, my job is going to interfere with my football.
I have already setup all the games for recording on my PVR (only if Comcast had ESPN2 in HD). And I think I can catch some of the earlier games either before going to work or at work (my employer has setup screening of the games in our cafeterias). So, it should not be very challenging to keep up with everything. And of course there is the internet and my favorite RSS reader to follow the blogs as they light up. (To read more about technology options to watch the games read Peter Cochran’s post)
My home country, Iran, has a chance to advance to the second round for the first time. I think the defining game in their run is going to be their first, coming on this Sunday 9:00am, Seattle time. If they can challenge Mexico and win this game, they will have a good shot of advancing.
Go Iran (and Italy too).
